What
are the Fund’s objectives?
The Fund's Aims
- To encourage and sponsor vital epidemiological research into the causes of mesothelioma
- To contribute to clinical trials with novel drug therapies for mesothelioma
- To raise awareness of the disease amongst healthcare professionals and the public at large
- To provide good quality up to date information and advice for mesothelioma sufferers and their carers
- To ensure that the Mesothelioma Charter is delivered
How the Fund helps
- We are the only independent mesothelioma research
registered charity in the UK. This means that we accept
donations from those wishing to raise money
specifically for research into mesothelioma. Often the
family and friends of those who have died of
mesothelioma will raise money in their loved one’s
name, and say it is a comfort to know that every penny
raised will go into helping others with the disease,
now and in the future.
- We provide high quality, easy to understand and up
to date information on mesothelioma. This includes
information about the disease itself, treatments, clinical
trials, novel therapies, where to go for more help, and
also details of regional asbestos support groups.
- We expect and actively encourage the Mesothelioma
Charter to be progressed as quickly as possible, and
its objectives to be embraced by government and
employers without delay.
- We support patient and carer information days held
throughout the UK. These have proved
immensely beneficial, providing a
unique opportunity for those
suffering through mesothelioma
to put questions directly to leading
professionals. Typical subjects
include the latest treatments for
mesothelioma, clinical trials and
research, obtaining compensation,
an overview of benefit
entitlements, understanding the
symptoms of mesothelioma and the
latest campaigning information.
Questions and comments from the audience
are very welcome.
- We invite applications for high quality mesothelioma
research projects in the UK. All applications are
independently reviewed and assessed by a panel of experts in this field.
