Five golden rules for dealing with the DWP

  1. Always put enquiries in writing and keep a copy.

  2. If you need to 'Phone the DWP, make a note of the time, date and what it was about - and note the name of the person you speak to.

  3. Claim ALL benefits you even THINK you may he entitled to - many people miss out by failing to claim. Ask for help from your Citizens Advice Bureau - the DWP Freephone Advice Line (0800 882200) will also be glad to help.

  4. Keep all papers sent to you by the DWP.

  5. Always appeal against any decision disallowing your benefits
