Industrial disablement benefit

This is claimed from your local DSS department by completing form B1(100)Pn. This benefit is always paid in the form of a weekly pension. If possible you need to submit a 'confirmation of diagnosis' statement from your hospital consultant or lung specialist nurse. This will help to speed up your claim.

Please note that, if this benefit is awarded, any income support, housing benefit and council tax assistance may be reduced or lost altogether.

To be eligible to claim Industrial Disablement Benefit you have to fit the following 2 criteria:

1. There must be a diagnosis of mesothelioma;
2. The claimant must be able to demonstrate that he/she has come into contact with asbestos during the course of his/her paid employment.
