The pic shows (left to right) Fund trustees Kimberley Stubbs and Kate Hill with Steve Lee. Money raised by Steve and his colleagues in Reading will fund a fellowship for Dr Adrian Dobbs, who is to conduct the world’s first study into a compound (called JBIR-23) - extracted from a bacteria found in soil and vegetation - which has been shown to fight mesothelioma cells. Queen Mary University London will share the cost of the fellowship. It’s the first product that’s demonstrated significant activity against mesothelioma, so this work is potentially very important.
