At the start of the afternoon session the Chairman, Professor Tom Treaure, invited Kate Hill to say a few words about the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund. Kate spoke about the relaunch of the Fund as the only independent charity in the UK dedicated to mesothelioma research, and reiterated the aims of the charity which are to fund high quality studies in mesothelioma, to provide innformation and support for patients and to pursue the campaign to raise awareness of the risks of asbestos, particularly its carcinogenic properties.

Kate also referred to the talk by Dr Trish Fisher, who presented findings from the MRC MS01 Trial and reminded the audience that the JHMRF were co-sponsors of this study. She also mentioned the support the Fund had given to the MARS trial, the progress of which formed the major part of Prof Treasure's presentation to the meeting.

In summing up, Kate drew attention to the new email details and website address and the useful information to found there, including the downloadable version of Mavis Robinson's handbook for patients and carers.
