‘Dust’ to be showcased at the West Yorkshire Playhouse

December 7, 2008

In June 1993 June Hancock was diagnosed with mesothelioma, the cancer caused by her exposure to asbestos as a child in 1930s Armley in Leeds, and the disease which claimed the life of her mother Maie Gelder. Already ill, she took to trial JW Roberts whose factory had put asbestos dust into the heart of Armley. Drawn from trial transcripts, interviews and letters, and performed by residents of Armley and West Yorkshire, ‘Dust’ is the story of that trial.

‘Dust’ by Kenneth Yates is being performed at the West Yorkshire Playhouse 15th – 18th July 2009
