JHMRF awarded partner status by NIHR

September 8, 2009

The JHMRF has been awarded partner status by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), the body that manages the allocation of government funding for applied health research. The Fund has met the specific criteria set by the NHIR for funding research in health care settings. These criteria ensure that the application and awards process is conducted to the same high standards as those of other major research funding organisations. We will now be eligible for inclusion in the NIHR Clinical Research Network Portfolio and can access NHS support via the NIHR Clinical Research Network infrastructure.  Access to the National Clinical Research Network (NCRN) will be of practical use to grantholders in the conduct of their research, and for training and development purposes.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has accredited JHMRF with partner organisation status. The JHMRF shares common aims with the HSE to promote awareness of asbestos risks and reduce the likelihood of exposure, which in turn may help to lower the incidence of asbestos related disease.
