A marathon fundraising effort for JHMRF
December 23, 2015
When Claire’s friend Daniella Brice told her that her Dad Andrew had been diagnosed with mesothelioma she wanted to help by raising funds for research into the disease. Winning a ballot place, Claire successfully completed the London Marathon this year in 4 hours 32 minutes, and raised £3,350 (plus gift aid).
After the marathon Claire said, “The day was very emotional for us all but fantastic all the same.”
Of the fundraising and her father’s illness Daniella said, “We didn’t know about this cancer before and having never had known exposure to asbestos it came as a great shock to all my Dad’s family and friends. What’s hardest to digest is that there is no cure at this stage and therefore we want to raise money to donate to research for this awful cancer.”
Claire donated her winner’s medal to Daniella’s baby son, the grandson that sadly Andrew never got to meet.
