The Lung Run
The 2012 five-kilometre Lung Run took place on Sunday 2 September in the Wiener Prater Park in Vienna. The run, which is held during the European Respiratory Society’s annual conference, marked the final event for World Spirometry Day 2012 organised by the European Lung Foundation Nearly 400 runners turned out at 7.00am on a fine, cool Sunday morning to compete in the run, including double medal-winning Olympic rower, Olaf Tufte, from Norway.
Olaf, who runs his family farm, suffers from severe asthma but has never let his condition get in the way of his sporting aspirations. JHMRF Trustee Kate Hill, who was attending the ERS Congress, also joined the runners and came home in a respectable 142nd place, completing the course in 26mins 1 sec – “Given the competition,” said Kate, “ I was really pleased not to be the last person across the line!” We think you did fantastically well Kate!
