GP raises awareness of mesothelioma
Retired North Yorkshire GP Dr Graham Abbot held a mesothelioma awareness and fundraising day in his GP surgery.
The day raised a total of £358 from donations for refreshments, sales of cakes and produce made by Dr Abbot and staff of North House Surgery in Ripon and from the sale of old toys and knick-knacks from Dr Abbot’s family.
Dr Abbot said “It was a great day, fun seeing many of my old colleagues, and interesting to catch up with previous patients. We were successful in raising money to support the three mesothelioma charities that I feel are important. These are the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund which provides essential funding in support of new treatment options for mesothelioma sufferers, Mesothelioma UK and MESSY the local support group for patients and carers in Yorkshire.”
Kimberly Stubbs, chair of JHMRF, says, “Well done and thank you, Dr Abbott, and to everyone who helped make your awareness and fundraising day such a success.”
